The Anointing Brings Opposition—And That’s Good News

I want to tell you something that might sound strange at first: if you’re walking in God’s purpose, you will face opposition. Not because God has abandoned you, but because the enemy has noticed you. And that’s actually a sign you’re on the right path.

This isn’t just theory—it’s the story of Scripture, and it’s the story of every believer who ever did anything meaningful for God. The moment the anointing comes, the enemy rises up. But here’s the key: that opposition isn’t meant to destroy you. It’s meant to refine you, to force you to fight for what God has given you, and to prove that His power is greater than the darkness.

The Anointing Attracts the Enemy

When God calls you, He doesn’t just give you a mission—He gives you His presence. That presence is the anointing, the Holy Spirit’s power resting on you for a purpose. But the moment that anointing lands, something else happens: the enemy takes notice.

Think about Jesus. The second the Holy Spirit descended on Him at His baptism, the devil showed up in the wilderness to tempt Him. Why? Because the anointing is a declaration of war. It says, "This person is dangerous to the kingdom of darkness." And the enemy doesn’t ignore threats—he attacks them.

The same is true for you. If you’re walking in your calling—whether in ministry, business, family, or community—you will face resistance. It might come as doubt, distraction, or outright attack. But don’t mistake opposition for God’s disapproval. Often, it’s the opposite: a sign that you’re stepping into what He’s called you to do.

"The higher you go in the things of the kingdom, the higher the antagonism. Don’t be fooled. It may look glamorous, but it comes at a sacrifice."

What Scripture Says About the Fight

Nehemiah 4:14 gives us the blueprint for how to respond when opposition comes. The Israelites were rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls, and their enemies were mocking, threatening, and plotting to stop them. Nehemiah’s response? He didn’t ignore the threat, but he didn’t let it paralyze him either. Instead, he said:

"Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes."

Three things stand out here:

1. Remember the Lord – Opposition has a way of making us forget who God is. But Nehemiah says, "Imprint Him on your mind." When the enemy comes, don’t focus on the attack—focus on the One who is greater.
2. Fight for what matters – The enemy doesn’t just want to stop you—he wants to stop what God is building through you. Your family, your purpose, your future. That’s why the fight is worth it.
3. Take courage from Him – You don’t fight in your own strength. The same God who raised Jesus from the dead is the One who fights for you (Ephesians 1:20-23). His power is already at work in you.

This isn’t just Old Testament history—it’s New Testament reality. Jesus didn’t just endure the cross; He defeated it. And because He did, we don’t have to fight for victory—we fight from it.

The devil isn’t creative—he uses the same tactics over and over. Here’s what he’ll try to do when God’s anointing is on your life:

1. Discredit Your Voice

If God has given you a prophetic word, a business idea, or a calling to lead, the enemy will try to make you doubt it. He’ll whisper:

• "Who do you think you are?"
• "You’re not qualified."
• "No one will listen to you."

This is why so many of us shrink back. But Nehemiah didn’t let the mockers stop him. He kept building. Why? Because the anointing isn’t about you—it’s about God in you.

2. Attack What God Has Given You

The enemy doesn’t waste time on things that don’t matter. He goes after what God has placed in your hands—your marriage, your children, your health, your finances, your calling. If it’s valuable to God, it’s a target.

But here’s the truth: the attack is proof of the anointing. If the devil didn’t see God’s power in you, he wouldn’t bother.

3. Make You a Spectator in Your Own Life

The enemy wants you to react to life instead of leading it. He wants you to:

• Wait for things to "just work out."
• Let other people define your future.
• Stay silent when God has given you a voice.

But Jesus didn’t let Satan control the narrative in the wilderness. He responded with Scripture. He spoke what God had already said. And that’s your weapon too.

How to Break the Delay and Move Forward

So what do we do when we’re facing opposition? How do we stop being stuck and start moving forward?

1. Stop Being a Spectator

You can’t afford to be passive about your life. If you’re waiting for things to "just happen," you’re already losing. The enemy is speaking over your future—are you?

• Speak God’s promises over your life. Not your fears, not your doubts—His Word.
• Take one step forward. Even if it’s small. Nehemiah’s people rebuilt the wall one stone at a time.
• Stop letting other people define your destiny. If God has called you, that’s enough.

2. Fight Offense, Not Just Defense

Most of us only play defense. We pray, "God, protect me from the enemy." But Jesus didn’t just resist Satan—He defeated him. He didn’t just avoid temptation—He overcame it.

• Pray offensive prayers. Not just "Deliver me from evil," but "Give me the nations as my inheritance." (Psalm 2:8)
• Take back what the enemy has stolen. If he’s taken your peace, your health, your joy—fight for it.
• Don’t just survive—thrive. The anointing isn’t just for protection; it’s for power.

3. Let Opposition Build You, Not Break You

God doesn’t waste pain. If you’re in a battle right now, it’s because He’s preparing you for something greater.

• Ask God, "What are You teaching me?" Joseph’s prison wasn’t the end of his story—it was the training ground for his purpose.
• Don’t quit when it gets hard. The enemy wants you to give up. God wants you to grow up.
• Remember: the cave is where the palace is built. David’s years in hiding prepared him to be king. Your struggle is preparing you for your destiny.

Here’s the bottom line: The anointing will bring opposition, but opposition is not the end of your story—it’s the proof that God is writing one.

• Let the enemy define your future (by staying silent, passive, and afraid), or
• Let God define it (by speaking His Word, taking action, and fighting for what He’s given you).

Nehemiah’s people could have given up when the enemy mocked them. But they didn’t. They remembered who God was, they fought for their families, and they finished the wall.

"You cannot sit back and allow some things to just take place in 2026. No, you must step into the end of February and begin to speak to it because there’s already another voice trying to speak to that end of month."
