Most of us know Jesus died and rose again. But what happened after that? Where is He now, and what does it mean for you today? The answer isn’t just theology. It’s the key to how you live, work, raise your family, and walk through this world with power.

Here’s the truth: Jesus didn’t just come to save you. He came to rule. And His rule isn’t distant or theoretical. It’s active, present, and available to you right now. The Bible doesn’t just tell us that He’s exalted—it shows us how, why, and what it means for our everyday lives.

The Story of a Shift

The Bible is one long story about a throne, a kingdom, and the moment everything changed. That moment wasn’t just the cross. It was the ascension—when Jesus took His seat at the right hand of God.

I want to show you four key moments in Scripture that reveal this shift. Each one builds on the last, like layers of a foundation. If you miss this, you’ll miss the heart of what God is doing in the world—and in you.

1. The Spirit Descends (Matthew 3:16-17)

At Jesus’ baptism, the heavens opened. The Spirit of God came down like a dove and rested on Him. A voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

This wasn’t just a nice moment. It was a coronation. The Spirit anointed Jesus for His mission—not as a humble teacher, but as the King. The same Spirit that descended on Him is the Spirit that lives in you today. That means His authority isn’t just for Him. It’s for His people.

2. The Temptation in the Wilderness (Matthew 4:1, 8-10)

Right after His baptism, Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. The final temptation was this: “All these kingdoms I will give You if You fall down and worship me.”

Satan wasn’t lying. He did have authority over the kingdoms of the world—because Adam had handed it to him in the Garden. But Jesus didn’t argue. He didn’t negotiate. He said, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”

That wasn’t just resistance. It was a declaration. Jesus was saying, “I don’t need your shortcut. I’m here to take back what’s Mine—God’s way.”

3. The Throne Declared (Acts 2:34-36)

Years later, Peter stood before a crowd in Jerusalem and said something radical: “God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”

The word Lord wasn’t just a title. It was a political statement. Caesar was called “Lord.” Kings were called “Lord.” Peter was saying, “Jesus is the true King. The One you rejected now rules over all.”

This wasn’t just good news. It was a revolution.

4. The Full Picture (Ephesians 1:20-23)

Paul puts it all together: God “raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion.”

Then he says something staggering: “He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body.”

Jesus isn’t just seated on the throne. He’s active. He’s ruling. And His body—the church—isn’t just a group of people. It’s the extension of His rule in the world.

What This Means for You

This isn’t just history. It’s your reality.

The Bible isn’t a random collection of stories. It’s one story about a kingdom, a throne, and the Man who sits on it. And if you’re in Christ, you’re part of it. Here’s what that changes:

1. You’re Not Fighting for Victory—You’re Enforcing It

Jesus already won. The battle isn’t about if He’ll reign. It’s about where His reign is recognized.

When you pray, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven,” you’re not asking God to do something new. You’re partnering with what He’s already done. You’re saying, “Let Your rule break in here—through me.”

That changes how you face problems. You’re not begging God to fix things. You’re standing in the authority of the One who already has.

2. Your Work, Family, and Community Are the Front Lines

The kingdom isn’t just for Sundays. It’s for your job, your home, your neighborhood.

• At work? You’re not just an employee. You’re an ambassador of the King.
• At home? You’re not just a parent or spouse. You’re a representative of His rule.
• In your community? You’re not just a citizen. You’re a carrier of His light.

This isn’t about being “religious.” It’s about living like the authority you carry is real—because it is.

3. You’re Not Waiting for Heaven—You’re Bringing It

Too many Christians live like this world is a waiting room. But Jesus didn’t die to get you out of the world. He died to get the kingdom into it.

The same power that raised Christ from the dead lives in you (Ephesians 1:19-20). That means:

• When you forgive, it’s kingdom power breaking in.
• When you speak truth, it’s kingdom authority at work.
• When you love the unlovable, it’s kingdom light pushing back darkness.

You’re not just passing time until heaven. You’re advancing heaven’s rule right where you are.

The One Thing You Must Do Now

Here’s the hard truth: You can know all this and still live like it’s not true.

Knowledge without action is just noise. So what do you do with this?

1. Start Your Day with the Throne

Before you check your phone, before you rush into your day, pause and say: “Jesus, You’re on the throne. I’m in You. Show me where Your kingdom needs to break in today.”

It’s not a ritual. It’s a reset. It reminds you who’s really in charge—and who you’re representing.

2. Look for the Kingdom in the Ordinary

The kingdom doesn’t just show up in big moments. It shows up in:

• The coworker who needs encouragement.
• The child who needs patience.
• The neighbor who needs help.

Ask God: “Where do You want to use me today?” Then watch for the opportunities.

3. Stop Living Like a Victim

If Jesus is on the throne, then nothing in your life is outside His control. Not your struggles. Not your failures. Not even your pain.

That doesn’t mean life will be easy. But it means nothing can stop His purpose for you.

“Everything in Scripture—from Genesis to Revelation—is about the exaltation of Jesus Christ. The question isn’t whether He rules. The question is whether you’ll live like it.”
