The Grace to Recover All

I’ve been asking God for deeper understanding of a simple but staggering promise: “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” That’s not poetry. It’s a blueprint. The Holy Spirit inside you is not a quiet guest—he is a rushing river, and his work is to recover everything that belongs to you: your health, your family, your purpose, your future. But here’s the catch: we’ve been operating far below the standard God set for us. The enemy has tricked us into thinking small—rent is a crisis, bread is a problem, a car is a miracle. Meanwhile, Joshua, centuries before Christ, stood in front of the sun and moon and said, “Stop.” And they did.

If that’s what a man could do before the cross, what should we be doing now?

The Holy Spirit’s Work Starts With Jesus’ Glory

The Holy Spirit could not begin his work in us until Jesus was glorified. That’s why Jesus told the disciples, “It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go, the Helper will not come to you.” His death, resurrection, and ascension were not just events—they were the trigger for the Spirit’s ministry. Until Jesus was seated at the right hand of the Father, the Holy Spirit had nothing to work with. His entire mission in your life is built on one foundation: the glorification of Jesus.

That changes everything. When the blind see, when the lame walk, when your business turns around—it’s not about the preacher, the prayer, or even your faith. It’s about the Holy Spirit pointing to Jesus. He doesn’t heal to make himself famous; he heals to make Jesus famous. And if he can do that through a man like Joshua—who commanded the sun and moon to stand still—what can he do through you?

We’ve Been Thinking Too Small

Jesus said, “The very least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than John the Baptist.” John was the greatest prophet who ever lived. Yet Jesus says you—yes, you—are greater. Why? Because you live in the age of the Holy Spirit. Joshua stopped the solar system with a word. Jesus walked on water, spoke to a fish to pay taxes, and raised the dead. And then he turned to his disciples and said, “You will do greater things than these.”

So why are we still begging God for bread when he’s given us the keys to the bakery?

The problem isn’t God’s power. It’s our expectation. We’ve let the enemy shrink our vision down to what we can see with our eyes. But the Holy Spirit is here to guide you into all truth—not just spiritual truth, but practical truth. The truth about your finances. The truth about your health. The truth about your purpose. He doesn’t just want to comfort you; he wants to commission you.

“You’re operating way below your potential. The enemy has made you think rent is a big issue. No—you don’t know who you are.”

How Do We Recover All?

The grace to recover isn’t a magic formula. It’s a relationship with the Holy Spirit, grounded in three things:

1. Pray in the Character of Christ We’ve been taught to end prayers with “in Jesus’ name,” but most of us don’t understand what that means. In the original language, it’s not just a tagline—it’s a legal declaration. “In the name” means “in the authority, the nature, the character of Christ.” When you pray, you’re not just asking as you—you’re asking as him. That’s why Joshua could command the sun. He wasn’t speaking in his own power; he was speaking in the righteousness of God. That’s how we recover. Not by begging, but by standing in the authority of the One who already won.

2. Expect the Impossible Jesus didn’t heal the sick just to show compassion (though he did). He did it to expand our imagination. He said, “If I did what I could do as God, it would be too much for you to understand.” So he started with what we could grasp: a lame man walking, a blind man seeing. But then he said, “Greater things than these shall you do.” That means your normal should be walking in miracles. Not as a spectacle, but as a sign that Jesus is alive and his Spirit is at work in you.

3. Stop Limiting God to Your Understanding The Holy Spirit doesn’t work within the boundaries of what you think is possible. He works within the boundaries of what Jesus already accomplished. That’s why he can tell you to apply for a job you’re not qualified for, start a business with no capital, or pray for healing when doctors say it’s impossible. He’s not limited by your past, your education, or your bank account. He’s limited only by your faith.

What Does This Look Like in Real Life?

• At work: Instead of stressing over a promotion, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth about your career. Maybe he’ll show you a skill to develop, a connection to make, or a bold move to take. Then act on it, not in fear, but in the authority of Christ.
• In your family: Stop accepting brokenness as permanent. If your marriage is struggling, if your kids are drifting, don’t just pray about it—pray into it. Declare healing, restoration, and breakthrough in Jesus’ name. Not because you’re perfect, but because he is.
• In your finances: The Holy Spirit isn’t just a comforter; he’s a provider. If you’re in lack, ask him to show you the truth about your situation. Maybe it’s a debt to cancel, a skill to monetize, or a door to walk through. Then step out in faith, trusting that he’s already gone ahead of you.

The Choice Is Yours

The grace to recover all is already inside you. The question is: Will you let the Holy Spirit lead you into all truth? Will you stop shrinking your prayers to fit your circumstances and start expanding your circumstances to fit God’s promises?

This isn’t about positive thinking. It’s about spiritual reality. The same Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. The same Jesus who said, “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to me” has given that authority to you. The same God who stopped the sun for Joshua is waiting for you to speak to your situation and watch it change.

So today, I’m asking you: What are you going to recover?
