The Earth Is Not Yours—It’s His, and He’s Given It to You

I want to tell you something that should change the way you pray, work, and even fight for your family: the earth is not yours. It belongs to God. But here’s the staggering truth—He has given it to you.

Last week we talked about inheritance, wills, and legal authority. Today we’re going deeper. We’re talking about jurisdiction—the official power to make decisions and judgments. And the Bible is clear: that power doesn’t belong to sickness, lack, or the devil. It belongs to God. And through Jesus, He has handed it to His sons and daughters.

If you’ve ever felt powerless—like the world is spinning out of control, like your family is under attack, like your work is stuck—this is for you. Because the moment you understand your jurisdiction as a son or daughter of God, everything changes.

The Will of Heaven Must Be Done on Earth

Jesus didn’t just teach us to pray nice words. He gave us a legal framework.

When the disciples asked Him how to pray, He didn’t say, “Pray whatever feels good.” He said, “Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

Think about that. Heaven has a will. A last will and testament. And Jesus says that will must be enforced here, on earth. Not by angels. Not by pastors. By you.

The heavens belong to God—but the earth? Psalm 115:16 says, “The heavens, even the heavens, are the Lord’s; but the earth He has given to the children of men.” That’s not poetry. That’s a legal transfer of authority.

So when you pray, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done,” you’re not just reciting words. You’re declaring, “Heaven’s will—God’s last will and testament—must be enforced in my life, my family, my work, my city.”

And if you don’t know what that will is? That’s why you open the Bible. Because the enemy doesn’t fight you with weapons. He fights you with ignorance. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge,” God says (Hosea 4:6). Not for lack of shouting. Not for lack of anointing oil. For lack of knowing.

What Does This Jurisdiction Look Like?

1. You Are Not a Victim—You Are a Steward

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it (Psalm 24:1). That means your job, your money, your health, your children—none of it is yours to lose. It’s His, and He’s entrusted it to you.

The Passion Translation puts it this way: “Yahweh claims the world as His. Everything and everyone belongs to Him.” That includes you. You don’t belong to fear. You don’t belong to debt. You don’t belong to the past. You belong to Him.

And if you belong to Him, then the authority He carries is now yours to enforce.

2. Prayer Is Not Begging—It’s Enforcing

Most of us pray like beggars. “God, please do something. Please fix this. Please help me.” But Jesus didn’t teach us to beg. He taught us to declare.

“Your kingdom come. Your will be done.” That’s not a request. It’s a legal decree. When you pray, you’re not asking God to do something He’s forgotten. You’re enforcing what He’s already willed.

Philippians 4:6-7 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Notice it doesn’t say, “God will fix everything.” It says His peace will guard you. Why? Because when you pray with authority, you’re not waiting for God to move. You’re moving with Him.

3. The Earth Is Your Assignment

God didn’t give you a job, a family, or a business so you could survive. He gave them to you so you could enforce His will in those spaces.

Think about it:

• If you’re a parent, your home is your jurisdiction. You don’t just hope your kids turn out okay. You declare God’s will over them.
• If you’re in business, your workplace is your jurisdiction. You don’t just hope for success. You enforce God’s principles of integrity, excellence, and generosity.
• If you’re single, your heart is your jurisdiction. You don’t just hope for the right spouse. You guard it with God’s standards.

This isn’t about control. It’s about responsibility. The earth was given to us—not to exploit, but to steward. And stewardship requires authority.

How Do You Walk in This Jurisdiction?

1. Stop Praying Like a Beggar

Next time you pray, don’t start with “God, please…” Start with “Father, Your Word says…” and then declare it.

• If you’re sick: “By His stripes, I am healed (Isaiah 53:5). That’s Your will, so I receive it.”
• If you’re in lack: “You supply all my needs according to Your riches (Philippians 4:19). That’s Your will, so I expect it.”
• If you’re afraid: “You have not given me a spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7). That’s Your will, so I reject it.”

Prayer isn’t hoping. It’s enforcing.

2. Take Dominion in Your Sphere

Where has God placed you? That’s your jurisdiction.

• If you’re a teacher, your classroom is your assignment. Declare God’s wisdom over your students.
• If you’re a nurse, your patients are your assignment. Declare healing over them.
• If you’re a janitor, your workplace is your assignment. Declare excellence in your work.

You don’t need a title to have authority. You just need to know whose authority you carry.

3. Stop Letting the Enemy Steal What’s Yours

The devil doesn’t have authority. He has tricks. And his biggest trick? Getting you to believe you have no power.

But Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore, go…” (Matthew 28:18-19). That authority is now yours in Him.

So when the enemy whispers:

• “You’ll never get out of debt.” You answer: “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. My provision is His will.”
• “Your marriage is over.” You answer: “What God has joined together, no man can separate (Mark 10:9). That’s His will, so I enforce it.”
• “You’re too weak to lead.” You answer: “His strength is made perfect in my weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). That’s His will, so I walk in it.”

You are not fighting for victory. You’re fighting from victory.

That’s not a suggestion. It’s your assignment.

What Now?

This isn’t just theology. This is your life.

• Today, open your Bible and find one promise God has made about your situation. Then declare it over your life like it’s already done.
• This week, identify one area where you’ve been passive (your health, your finances, your relationships). Take one step to enforce God’s will there.
• Every day, when you pray, don’t just ask. Declare. “Your kingdom come, Your will be done—in my home, my work, my city.”

The earth is not yours to worry about. It’s yours to rule.
